The strap that holds the shoe lace broke the first time that I wore the shoes. The shoe laces are also too long. I have to double tie them to keep them off of the floor.

The N-lock design for holding the laces in place seems like a good idea for comfort and stability, but not if you are planning on working these shoes hard. In less than a month from purchase, two of the four N-lock straps have separated from the bottom of the shoe. These are worn every three days (in a rotation with two other NB shoes), inside only. Other than the shoes starting to fall apart, they are very comfortable in the weight room and for short jaunts on the track -- just keep 'em off the court. I was surprised that New Balance would design a shoe where the laces are held in place by a small strap.

This cross trainer replaces a New Balance MX1008. Unfortunately I did not notice that the shoe has a lot of mesh and some suede like material. The MX1008 it replaced was mostly leather and much sturdier and well put together. More time is needed to see how the shoe holds up and whether it will provide the need support and control in the months to come. Live and learn I guess.

If these are NARROW I would hate to think what WIDE must be like. The Silver is a BIT MUCH,but I ordered them.

I wondered why the silver shoes were half the cost of say the black but I bought them since they seemed to be a bargain. My wife laughs everytime she sees me wearing them. They are really ugly, but I could live with that if I thought the shoe was well made. They seem pretty flimsy compared to my New Balance 854's that I have been wearing for years. The 854's are substantial and fully leather. These new shoes are mainly material and are not likely to stand up very well. Once again you get what you pay for and, sometimes, less. I suspect New Balance is making a greater profit on these cheaply made shoes than they did from the 854'w which will probably last forever.
